4 Reasons to Call Your Recruiter Instead of Emailing

Email is quick, easy, efficient, and allows the reader to respond in the same manner and without asking for too much their time. When it comes to working with your Houston recruiter, sometimes it’s better to dial the phone and chat, instead of sending that email. We asked our Houston recruiters to give us some examples of when and why they prefer a good ole’ fashioned phone call.
Efficiency
We all know that most people don’t always open an email the instant they get it. However most of the time, your recruiter will answer the phone when it’s ringing, or if they’ve missed it they will listen to their voicemail. If the issue is time-sensitive, our Houston recruiters prefer a phone call.
Shows level of interest and “buy-in”
Phone calls tend to hold more authority than an email, as it is a more traditional form of communication. Our Houston recruiters say that if a candidate takes the time to call them to talk about a recent interview or talk through an offer, etc., it shows a level of commitment to their job search.
No room for error
Tone, inflection, excitement, sarcasm, etc. do not always come through in an email, which can leave a lot of room for misinterpretation. Before you send an email that may require the recipient to read between the lines, our Houston recruiters suggest that you pick up the phone. It’s always easier to explain a thought, feeling, or change of heart when your recruiter can hear your voice.
Better relationships
The relationship between a candidate and a recruiter is vital to the job search process. The best way to form this is of course to meet them face-to-face in order to build that rapport. But in the initial stages, our Houston recruiters find it much easier to form a relationship with their candidate if their interaction is over the phone. Since a phone call is less formal than sending an email, you can talk about something directly and candidly, without having to refer to a previous chain of emails.
