Senior Operational Accountant
Direct Hire; up to 90K + bonus
Downtown Houston

Duties:
 

• Prepare monthly close journal entries including lease operating expense accruals, capital accruals, units of production depletion, and proved and unproved impairment
• Prepare accounting memorandums related to proved and unproved impairment, depletion, and other accounting topics
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations and roll-forwards on a timely basis
• Research technical accounting topics related to operational accounting including topics in ASC 360, ASC 932, and COPAS guidance
• Analyze results versus forecast and present variance explanations to management
• Work closely with various groups including accounting, operations, production, and land
• Maintain SOX controls/policies and procedures related to specific job duties
• Assist with external audit, internal audit, and legal requests
• Provide guidance to other accountants within the team

Qualifications:
 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related degree with 5 years of o&g accounting experience
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PP, and Outlook; Enertia highly preferred
• Strong analytical skills and able to create and improve processes
• Team player, collaborative approach, and able to develop a relationship and communicate effectively with various areas of the organization
• Strong time management, organization, and multi-tasking skills
• Fast-paced, accurate, efficient, and attention to detail
