Middle Office Analyst – Crude & Products,
Houston, TX

Hybrid role
Reports to Middle Office Manager

Role Accountabilities::

  • Perform Middle Office control for assigned Crude and Refined Products books.
  • Monitors and verifies all daily physical and paper activities.
  • Confirms all trading positions and risk exposures, ensuring they are within authorized limits.
  • Report accurate daily profit and loss results.
  • Responsible for all daily and monthly P/L reporting.
  • Monitor and control daily trades and modifications to ensure accuracy and reasonableness, especially those affecting price exposure.
  • Monitor, control, and report daily pricing for physical purchases and sales activities.
  • Track and report physical and paper positions, and manage risk exposure versus authorized limits.
  • Analyze, reconcile, and manage hedge instruments, including NYMEX and ICE executions, clear swaps, OTC forwards, swaps, and options.
  • Control authorized daily trading limits and prepare reports for approval by the Trading Desk Manager and Managing Director.
  • Provide statistical results, trade analysis, and support to Trading Desks and Management.
  • Interface with Operations personnel to ensure all risk- and profit-related data is current and accurate.
  • Reconcile monthly results.
  • Involves risk control and analysis for US trading and marketing activities supporting the company’s North American refining supply and production,
  • Also supports trading transcations with affiliates and third-party Crude, Fuel Oil, Mid-Distillates, Gasoline, and Naphtha products including pipeline, vessel, storage, and paper executions.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Energy, or a similar field required; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Strong command of the English language.
  • Proficient in Excel (advanced features).
  • Programming skills in VBA and Python are required.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Adaptable, diplomatic, and a team player.
