Downtown Law Firm in need of Litigation Legal Assistant.  This role will be hybrid with the opportunity to work one day remote.  Position will be supporting 2 partners and 2 Associates  in a busy commercial litigation practice

Duties And Responsibilities

  • File pleadings in state and federal trial courts, courts of appeals, and Supreme Courts; communicate with court staff, as necessary; keep current with changes in court rules and filing procedures
  •  Calendar deadlines and reminders
  •  Format, proofread, and finalize detailed correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents including TOC and TOA
  •  Provide general office support for litigation attorneys, including, maintaining and organizing files, preparing expense reports, submitting invoices for payment, scheduling travel, coordinating client meetings, calls and conferences
  •  Provide support for the firm’s monthly billing process including inputting time, editing invoices and sending out final bills to clients
  •  Scheduling depositions, hearings, and other proceedings
  •  Set up new clients and matters and send out engagement letters
  • Follow up with clients about payments and outstanding AR
  • Perform general research and support activities to assist attorneys
  •  Other duties as assigned
     

Qualifications
 

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in commercial litigation in a law firm environment 
     

Required Skills And Abilities

  • Experience e-filing in all federal and state courts
  •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  •  Experience and ability to work with time-sensitive and overlapping deadlines
  •  Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including TOA, TOC and styles
  •  Ability to multi-task and prioritize numerous ongoing projects in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  •  Dependable team player; ability to work productively with personnel at all levels and with minimal supervision
  •  Must be a self-starter and take initiative
  •  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  •  Excellent organizational and time management skills
