Sr Corporate/Trading Accountant -Commodities

Company Description
Premier and well-known and respected energy commodities trading, marketing, and distribution client with a national footprint is seeking a
Role Accountabilities:
Prepare financial statements for internal and external users; collect and analyze financial data ensuring compliance with reporting guidelines.
- Perform general accounting activities including the preparation, maintenance, and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements, and capital expenditure schedules
- Prepare, record, analyze, and report accounting transactions and ensure the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles
- Provide financial support, including forecasting, budgeting, and analyzing variations from budget
- Analyze and prepare statutory accounts, financial statements, and reports
- Conduct or assist in the documentation of accounting projects
- Research accounting rules and regulations and make recommendations regarding company policy
- May coach, lead, or direct others’ work
- Perform special projects as assigned
- Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level
- Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Complete other duties as assigned
The following additional duty may also be required:
- Manage areas including but not limited to PIP administration, leases, fixed assets, cash concentration, rebate accounting, and general ledger management
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting preferred
- Minimum five years’ experience in accounting or related area required
- Experience in Corporate Accounting in a Commodity Trading shop OR a Senior Accountant/Audit at a CPA firm with experience auditing energy commodity firms
- CPA is a Plus
Skills that will set you apart:
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills required
- Knowledge of Right Angle or other ETRM software
- Intermediate knowledge of Lawson or general ledger (GL) accounting software required
- Intermediate knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) preferred
- Ability to exercise judgment and make decisions in determining company policies and strategies affecting company financial performance
