Paralegal – Plaintiff (DOWNTOWN)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized High-Profile Plaintiff Litigation Paralegal to support our legal team in managing high-stakes, complex litigation cases. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile cases, representing clients in matters involving significant legal, financial, and public implications. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, providing essential support in all phases of litigation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Case Management and Organization: Assist attorneys in managing and organizing case files for high-profile plaintiff cases. Maintain a detailed system for tracking deadlines, filings, evidence, and case-related documents.
- Document Preparation: Draft, prepare, and file various legal documents, including complaints, discovery requests and responses, motions, subpoenas, and deposition summaries. Ensure all documents are properly formatted, filed in a timely manner, and comply with court rules.
- Discovery Support: Assist in managing the discovery process, including document collection, organization, and production. Coordinate responses to discovery requests and track deadlines.
- Legal Research: Conduct legal research on case law, statutes, regulations, and legal precedents to support case strategy. Summarize research findings for attorney review.
- Trial Preparation: Provide comprehensive trial support by organizing exhibits, creating trial binders, coordinating witness lists, and assisting in the preparation of opening and closing statements.
- Client Communication: Maintain regular contact with clients, witnesses, and experts to ensure the efficient exchange of information and case updates. Provide excellent client service while maintaining confidentiality.
- E-filing and Court Filings: Prepare and file court documents, including e-filing with state and federal courts. Ensure compliance with court rules and deadlines for document submission.
- Deposition and Hearing Support: Assist with scheduling and organizing depositions, hearings, and trial dates. Prepare deposition summaries and organize exhibits and witness lists for trial.
- Media and Public Relations: Help manage the logistics of media interactions, including preparing materials for public statements or press conferences under the direction of attorneys. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in high-profile matters.
- Administrative Tasks: Handle administrative tasks such as timekeeping, billing, and managing attorney calendars. Assist in coordinating logistics for meetings, hearings, and client conferences.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Assistant Program, or a related field. A bachelor’s degree is a plus.
- Paralegal certification (e.g., NALA, NFPA) is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal, with a strong focus on plaintiff-side or complex litigation.
- Proven experience in high-profile cases, including familiarity with handling public relations aspects and media attention.
- Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures, including discovery, motions, and court filings.
- Exceptional research, writing, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with e-filing systems for state and federal courts.
- Ability to manage multiple, high-priority tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-focused approach.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with trial preparation software (e.g., FileVine, Needles).
- Familiarity with class action or mass tort litigation.
- Background in media relations or working with high-profile clients and cases.
- Strong understanding of ethical considerations and confidentiality in high-profile legal matters.
