Trial Paralegal needed for successful boutique practice
Highly organized Commercial Litigation Trial Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and proactive individual with a strong understanding of commercial litigation, trial preparation, and legal document management. As a Trial Paralegal, you will support attorneys in all phases of litigation, from pre-trial discovery to trial and post-trial motions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in preparing for and managing complex commercial litigation cases, including document review, drafting pleadings, and managing discovery.
- Coordinate and manage trial preparation, including organizing evidence, exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
- Draft, review, and file legal documents such as motions, pleadings, discovery requests/responses, subpoenas, and affidavits.
- Conduct legal research to support case strategy, including statutes, regulations, case law, and legal precedents.
- Review, summarize, and organize large volumes of documents for case preparation and discovery.
- Maintain case files and track deadlines for filing and court appearances, ensuring compliance with court rules and procedures.
- Assist in deposition preparation, including the organization of exhibits and preparation of witness outlines.
- Manage and assist with e-discovery processes, including identifying relevant documents, coordinating document production, and organizing data.
- Attend trials, hearings, and depositions, taking notes, organizing exhibits, and assisting attorneys as needed.
- Communicate and coordinate with clients, expert witnesses, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in the litigation process.
- Prepare and review trial binders, witness files, and trial presentations.
- Prepare summaries and timelines for trial preparation, highlighting key points for use in motions, depositions, or trial arguments.
- Assist in settlement negotiations and prepare settlement documents.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Assistant Program, or related field.
- Certification from a recognized paralegal association (e.g., NALA, NFPA, or similar) preferred.
- 5 plus years of experience in commercial litigation, with trial experience highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state court rules, commercial litigation procedures, and trial preparation.
- Proficiency with e-discovery platforms and case management software (e.g., Relativity, CaseMap, or similar).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, attorneys, and other stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with large, complex commercial litigation cases.
- Experience in specific areas of commercial litigation such as contract disputes, business torts, or intellectual property litigation.
- Familiarity with trial presentation tools (e.g., Trial Director, PowerPoint)
