Position Overview:
A prestigious Houston-based law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support its Trusts & Estates practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in probate and estate administration processes, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and prepare legal documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and probate filings
- Assist attorneys with estate administration and court filings, including petitions, inventories, and accountings
- Manage client files, including document organization, file maintenance, and retrieval
- Communicate with clients, courts, and financial institutions to gather necessary documentation
- Maintain attorneys' calendars, schedule meetings, and monitor critical deadlines
- Handle e-filing with probate courts and manage correspondence related to probate and trust matters
- Assist with billing, timekeeping, and matter management
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably with a focus in Trusts & Estates or Probate
- Strong understanding of Texas probate procedures and legal terminology
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) and document management systems
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism
- Experience with e-filing in Texas courts preferred
