Logistics Manager
Direct Hire; up to 100K + disc. bonus
North Houston
**Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred
**Ideal candidate will be a change agent in the manufacturing arena
**Develop and standardize optimal processes (as in a start-up environment)
Duties:
- Handle inquiries and resolve shipping, receiving, inventory control and packaging issues
- Coordinate with Logistics and others to facilitate efficient logistics operations
- Determine staffing requirements, conduct performance reviews, and monitor attendance
- Negotiate shipping rates, book trucks, load trucks, print BOLs, and keep records detailing order transactions (shipment planner, Trello, etc…)
- Load planning/order management to best suit customer needs maintaining optimum loading
- Coordinate and execute picking ticket, load ability, and freight cost coverage received from sales
- Coordinate safety training and ensure a safe environment is maintained
- Receive and unload raw material deliveries
- Document Creation for Canada and Mexico Shipments (BOL, NAFTA, Commercial Invoice and Packing List) in new system
- Complete activity reports for management and departmental metrics
- Manage warehouse inventory control, accuracy, and cycle counts; lead physical inventories
- Maintaining budgeted guidelines for all areas of warehouse operations
- Establish warehouse policies and safety procedures; ensure compliance
- Continually improve accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency of warehouse processes
- Arrange for proper industrial truck maintenance as required.
- Supervise rail spur and resin management team
- Maintain and train Logistics Assistants.
- Act as backup for Transportation Manager
- Supervise full-time and temporary labor as required in the busy season
Qualifications:
- High School diploma required
- Tech and software savvy including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Transportation Management System (TMS) experience, Mercury Gate preferred
- Knowledge of power industrial trucks A MUST
- 3-5 years of shipping, inventory control, and supervisor experience
- Excellent customer service, people, and leadership skills
- Knowledge of trucking regulations and driver hours of service regulations, and 6S
- Strong analytical, mathematics, and problem-solving skills
- Forklift Certification a PLUS, not required
- Lift 50 lbs. and climb 90 feet
