Property Accountant – Houston, Texas

A growing commercial real estate firm is looking for a Property Accountant with strong experience in commercial property accounting and the ability to produce complete financial packages with accuracy and consistency. This role works closely with property management, leadership, and lenders to keep financial operations running smoothly.
About the Role
You’ll handle the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of commercial properties, ensuring clean financials, proper revenue recognition, and organized reporting that supports decision making across the team.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare monthly financial statements and full financial packages for each property.
• Record journal entries, accruals, prepaid items, and complete all balance sheet reconciliations.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and review cash activity for accuracy.
• Support lender and ownership reporting and assist with follow up requests.
• Review lease data, complete lease setups, and verify revenue is recorded properly.
• Assist with annual budgets, expense recoveries, and CAM, tax, and insurance reconciliations.
• Help prepare construction draw documentation and coordinate with lenders.
• Monitor accounts receivable and provide updates on tenant collection status.
• Collaborate with property management and leadership to maintain strong accounting processes.
What You Bring
• Commercial real estate property accounting experience.
• Experience preparing complete financial packages for ownership or lenders.
• Yardi experience preferred.
• Exposure to NorthSpyre or similar tools is a plus.
