Legal Assistant opening (Trust/Estate experience preferred)
JOB REQUIREMENTS
5+ years of on-the-job experience necessary to perform complex administrative duties in a professional setting.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of legal billing software (preferably Aderant)
- Ability to type at a level of 70 WPM
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail with superior proofreading abilities
- Working knowledge of creating and editing legal documents
- Strong understanding of the county and state court systems
- Ability to successfully work in a fast-paced environment
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with a variety of assigned attorneys and practice group areas as needed
- Organize and maintain correspondence, documents, and computer-based files
- Calendar deadlines, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings and hearings
- Deliver messages and coordinate teleconferences, conferences, and consultation calls
- Coordinate travel (flights and hotels), and submit reimbursement requests
- Prepare documents including correspondence, pleadings, discovery, formations, and deeds
- Document production (including Bates labeling, redacting)
- Arrange various support services (e.g., courier deliveries, document processing center assistance, conference room reservations)
- Work on complex organizational charts
- File on Secretary of State website, determine name availability
- Write and deposit checks for the estate account
- Prepare electronic closing binders
- Assist attorneys with trial and deposition preparation, as well as the preparation of private offering documents
- Arrange attendance for CLE course and keep track of attorney CLE hours
- Review, correct, and disburse pre-bills and invoices
