Assistant Project Accountant (Construction & Real Estate) – up to 75K
Location: Charleston, South Carolina — In-Office Position
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary:
The Assistant Project Accountant will work closely with the project accounting team to ensure financial accuracy and timely reporting across multiple projects. This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn the financial side of construction and real estate development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with project setup, including creating new project files and coding structures
- Support budget preparation, monitoring, and reporting for active construction and development projects
- Handle accounts payable functions—reviewing invoices, coding costs accurately, and processing payments
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records for all projects
- Assist with job cost tracking, change order entries, and monthly project reporting
- Collaborate with project managers and accounting team members to ensure data accuracy and timely updates
- Support ongoing accounting functions as needed as project continues to expand
Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred but not required
- Construction or real estate industry experience highly valued
- Strong Excel skills and proficiency with construction/real estate accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Yardi, Viewpoint, Procore, or similar) preferred
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality
- Dependable, proactive, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced office environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills—a great personality and team mindset are musts!
