Accounting & Finance Manager / Senior Accountant (Operations-Focused)
Direct Hire; up to 100K (flexible base)
Ideal candidate will live between Houston and Beaumont
Duties:
Accounting & Financial Close
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and accruals
- Perform balance sheet clean-up and ongoing balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare and maintain WIP roll-forwards and oversee WIP management
- Close the books accurately and on schedule; support audits, reviews, and financial filings
Financial Reporting & Cash Management
- Prepare internal financial reporting and bank reporting
- Produce daily cash reports and participate in cash review (“Cash Bible”) meetings
- Monitor cash flow and banking activity across both companies
- Process sales tax payments and ensure regulatory compliance
- Oversee medical insurance administration
Contracts, Billing & Job Costing
- Review contracts and manage contract documentation
- Enter budgets, change orders, and work orders; process contract and work order billings
- Track, manage, and bill WIP accurately; manage waivers and liens
- Assist with permit coordination as needed
Accounts Payable & Receivables
- Enter invoices and manage invoice approval workflows; review vendor statements and resolve discrepancies; prepare AP outstanding and collections reports
- Process check runs and manage check deposits; clean up disputed invoices and track missed invoice logs; coordinate subcontractor and vendor approvals
Payroll, Labor & Compliance
- Process payroll, including time entry and expense reports
- Manage 401(k) payments and related payroll filings
- Track PTO, OJT hours, and certified payroll reporting
- Administer CCIP/OCIP and Texas Mutual reporting
Other
- Support budgeting and financial planning
- Maintain strong internal controls and accounting processes
- Take ownership of projects beyond accounting when business needs arise
- Act as a value-add partner to leadership and operations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- Experience with multiple ERP and accounting systems; QuickBooks experience required
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, job costing, and financial reporting
- Confident balancing responsibilities across two company entities
- Comfortable stepping outside traditional accounting duties and “getting hands dirty”
- Highly organized with a strong appreciation for structure, process, and accountability
- Collaborative team player who can also take initiative and lead
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to improve how the business operates
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to see the big picture
