A Texas-based civil litigation law firm is seeking a Junior Paralegal with prior defense experience to support attorneys handling a high-volume automobile accident docket. This position focuses on insurance defense matters and requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple active files efficiently.
The ideal candidate is proactive, deadline-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced litigation environment.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management

Maintain and manage high-volume auto defense case files from inception through trial

Track and calendar deadlines in compliance with the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure

Monitor statutes of limitations and court scheduling orders

Maintain accurate entries in the firm’s case management system
Litigation Support
-
Draft and assist with pleadings, discovery responses, and motions
-
Prepare initial disclosures in accordance with Texas procedural requirements
-
Draft subpoenas and coordinate service
-
Assist in preparing deposition summaries and medical record chronologies
-
Organize exhibits and trial notebooks
-
Assist attorneys with mediation and trial preparation
Discovery & Medical Records
-
Coordinate collection and review of medical records and billing
-
Summarize medical records and prepare damage analyses
-
Track discovery deadlines and follow up on outstanding responses
-
Prepare document productions and privilege logs
Client & Carrier Communication
-
Communicate with insurance adjusters regarding case status and reporting
-
Assist with drafting status reports to carriers
-
Coordinate expert retention and scheduling (IME, accident reconstruction, etc.)
E-Filing & Administrative Support
-
Prepare and file documents in Texas state and federal courts using e-filing systems

Maintain docketing and scheduling systems

Process incoming pleadings and correspondence
Required Qualifications

Minimum 1–2 years of defense litigation experience (auto/insurance defense preferred)

Working knowledge of Texas civil procedure and court deadlines

Experience with high-volume caseloads

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)

Experience with legal case management software

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Excellent organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications

Paralegal certificate or degree

Experience with Texas state and federal court e-filing systems

Familiarity with billing and time-entry requirements
