Corporate Accounting Manager
Location: Houston, TX (Galleria Area)
Compensation: $140K+ base + bonus + comprehensive benefits

About the Opportunity
A growing, publicly traded services organization is seeking a Corporate Accounting Manager to lead core accounting operations and strengthen internal controls. This role offers high visibility across the business and the opportunity to drive process improvements, support strategic initiatives, and mentor a developing team.
The ideal candidate brings strong U.S. GAAP expertise, leadership experience, and a track record of improving close processes and ERP-driven workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Oversee general ledger activities, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries
- Prepare and review internal management reporting and deliver ad hoc financial analysis
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation across accounting workflows
- Manage and optimize ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics / Business Central) to enhance controls and efficiency
- Oversee accounting for contracts and service agreements, ensuring proper revenue recognition and documentation
- Ensure accurate accounting for fixed assets and compliance with U.S. GAAP
- Analyze budget vs. actual variances and partner with leadership to drive cost improvements
- Oversee lease accounting in compliance with ASC 842
- Evaluate and document accounting treatment for complex transactions (e.g., debt, acquisitions, system implementations)
- Strengthen and maintain internal controls and SOX compliance
- Partner with internal and external auditors to support audit readiness and execution
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a high-performance team environment
- Collaborate cross-functionally to translate accounting requirements into actionable business processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred)
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 4+ years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting
- Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 / Business Central preferred)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with SOX compliance and internal controls
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
