Senior Corporate Accountant
Overview
A growing, privately held real estate developer is seeking a Senior Corporate Accountant to support corporate-level accounting operations. This role will be responsible for general ledger activity, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting, while also contributing to process improvements and internal controls.
This position requires someone who can operate independently, exercise strong judgment, and collaborate across departments. The role reports directly to the Assistant Controller and works closely with senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries including accruals, prepaids, intercompany, and consolidations
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Analyze and clean up historical balance sheet accounts across multiple entities
- Complete bank reconciliations and monitor cash activity
- Generate and post accounts receivable invoices (fees, interest, intercompany, billbacks, etc.)
- Track and record investor contributions and distributions
- Calculate and record monthly interest income
- Manage and file sales and use tax returns (monthly, quarterly, annual)
- Administer corporate credit card program and expense activity
- Assist with month-end close and ensure deadlines are consistently met
- Support cleanup and closeout of inactive or divested projects
- Partner with internal teams including development, construction, property management, and asset management
- Maintain confidentiality and support internal controls, including identifying potential risks or irregularities
- Assist leadership (Assistant Controller, Controller, CAO) with ad hoc reporting and projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 2–4+ years of industry experience
- 2 years of audit experience
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems
- Real estate industry experience is a plus, not required
