Senior Electrical Engineer
Location: Houston, TX (Conveniently located near George Bush Intercontinental Airport)
Travel: Some travel required
Compensation: Competitive base salary plus bonus
Opportunity Overview

Reporting Relationship:
Reports to the CEO, U.S. Operations or Head of Development
Key Responsibilities
Project & Design Engineering
- Oversee, direct, and guide electrical design processes, including:
- Substations
- Collector systems
- Generation tie lines
- SCADA and communications systems
- Prepare preliminary engineering layouts to support interconnection applications and local permitting activities
- Provide electrical engineering support during project prospecting and early-stage development
Transmission & Interconnection Support
- Develop electrical specifications for transmission queue submissions
- Track, interpret, and respond to utility and regulatory comments related to queue reforms
- Support interconnection study analysis and applications
- Assist with the preparation of interconnection agreements and transmission service agreements
- Support utility Point of Interconnection (POI) requirements
Costing, Procurement & Construction
- Develop transmission line designs and cost estimates
- Identify technical specifications and select appropriate electrical equipment
- Lead procurement efforts for major electrical components
- Provide leadership during electrical construction, commissioning, and EPC wrap-up
- Support RFP responses with electrical engineering input
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in renewable energy project development
- Proven experience across project planning, execution, and continuous improvement
- Strong background in:
- Power system and substation design (including high-voltage systems)
- Development-phase engineering, permitting, procurement, and construction
- Cost estimating and financial inputs for project development
Technical Skills
- Ability to conduct and interpret interconnection study analyses
- Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and utility-specific interconnection requirements
- Proficient in working with:
- Single-line diagrams (SLDs)
- Electrical layouts
- Flow model input files
