Accounting Manager
Overview
A growing publicly traded organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead a high-performing accounting team and oversee complex general ledger and revenue accounting functions. This role will partner cross-functionally with operations and executive leadership while driving process improvements, strengthening internal controls, and supporting financial reporting initiatives.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting leader with strong technical accounting expertise, revenue recognition experience, and a passion for mentoring teams in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals while fostering accountability and high performance
- Oversee full-cycle general ledger accounting processes including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and revenue analysis
- Manage and execute month-end close activities, including revenue analytics, cost variance analysis, trend reporting, and financial statement preparation
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly financial reporting
- Partner with senior accounting leadership to streamline workflows and standardize financial review processes
- Support department operations through documentation of procedures, process improvements, and staff training initiatives
- Review and approve complex general ledger reconciliations including cash, inventory, prepaid expenses, receivables, liabilities, trust accounts, and various accruals
- Build strong relationships with field operations and corporate departments to resolve accounting issues and provide financial guidance
- Coordinate audit requests and prepare supporting documentation for internal and external auditors
- Assist with financial statement analytics, variance explanations, SEC reporting support, MD&A preparation, and 10-Q / 10-K tie-outs
- Maintain and enhance internal controls to ensure compliance and operational efficiency
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations for accounting staff
- Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen controls, increase efficiency, and improve reporting quality
- Assist with special projects, system implementations, upgrades, and testing initiatives impacting accounting operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA designation required
- Prior accounting leadership or management experience required
- Strong background in general ledger accounting and month-end close processes
- Experience with revenue analysis and revenue recognition under ASC 606
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including data analysis and reporting
- Experience working with ERP systems and financial reporting platforms
- Experience with OneStream, Oracle, or Hyperion is a plus
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable working with high transaction volume and complex data environments
- Strong systems aptitude and ability to navigate multiple integrated and non-integrated systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to lead, train, and develop accounting staff
- Financial reporting and SEC reporting exposure is a plus
- 5+ years of experience in revenue analysis and/or corporate accounting environments preferred
