Litigation Legal Assistant / Legal Secretary
Join a Fast-Paced Plaintiff Personal Injury Litigation Team
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day support to attorneys, the Senior Legal Assistant, and other team members to effectively meet client and firm objectives.
- Manage complex calendars, coordinate meetings, schedule appointments, and oversee frequently changing attorney schedules.
- Arrange and coordinate travel, conferences, depositions, hearings, and other legal events.
- Prepare, revise, proofread, and format legal documents, correspondence, memoranda, pleadings, and other case-related materials.
- File documents electronically in state and federal courts and maintain accurate docketing and calendaring of deadlines.
- Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing hearing notebooks, and coordinating logistics.
- Schedule depositions and manage communications with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and vendors.
- Process expense reports and assist with administrative and operational tasks as needed.
- Screen and direct telephone calls, coordinate conference calls, and maintain professional communications.
- Collaborate with fellow Legal Assistants and support staff to ensure seamless workflow and outstanding client service.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all firm policies, procedures, and professional standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, including document formatting and legal document preparation.
- Typing speed of 55+ words per minute.
Preferred Skills & Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of plaintiff personal injury litigation practices and procedures.
- Experience with state and federal court filing requirements, deadlines, and court procedures.
- Proficiency in e-filing, docket management, trial preparation, and litigation calendaring.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
