Accounting Manager

With decades of experience delivering large-scale projects across North America, the company is investing in the future of its finance organization and is seeking an Accounting Manager with the potential to grow into a Controller role.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, or Assistant Controller who enjoys project-based accounting and wants to broaden their leadership responsibilities within a supportive, team-oriented environment.
Position Summary
Reporting to the CFO, the Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day operational accounting, support the month-end close process, and partner closely with operations on project accounting and job costing. This role offers significant visibility across the organization and a clear path for professional growth.
Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day operational accounting, including general ledger, reconciliations, cash management, and month-end close.

Oversee job costing and project accounting activities, including work-in-progress (WIP) and percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting.

Review contracts and ensure accurate revenue recognition and project cost reporting.

Support annual audits and prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.

Collaborate with field operations to ensure accurate project financial reporting and timely invoice processing.

Assist with quarterly financial reporting packages and management reporting.

Partner with Accounts Payable and project accounting staff while providing coaching and support.

Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.

Participate in special projects and take on additional leadership responsibilities as the organization continues to grow.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.

Active CPA or actively pursuing CPA certification preferred.

5-8 years of progressive accounting experience.

Experience with job costing and project-based accounting in construction, industrial services, engineering, energy, or a similar environment.

Working knowledge of WIP, percentage-of-completion accounting, and contract accounting.

Strong understanding of month-end close, general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Experience with ERP systems such as Spectrum, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar platforms.

Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with both accounting and operations teams.
