Medical Malpractice Attorney (5+ Years Experience)

A highly respected plaintiff personal injury law firm is seeking an experienced, driven, and compassionate Medical Malpractice Attorney to join its growing litigation team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney with at least five years of experience handling medical malpractice litigation who is passionate about advocating for patients and families harmed by medical negligence.
The successful candidate will manage complex, high-value medical malpractice cases against hospitals, physicians, healthcare systems, and insurance carriers. We are looking for a strategic litigator who thrives in a collaborative environment, takes ownership of challenging cases, and is committed to delivering outstanding results for clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of complex medical malpractice matters from pre-suit investigation through trial or resolution.
- Conduct comprehensive case evaluations, including reviewing medical records, identifying liability issues, and assessing damages.
- Develop litigation strategies in collaboration with the legal team.
- Draft and argue pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation-related filings.
- Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, treating physicians, and expert witnesses.
- Collaborate with medical experts to establish liability, causation, and damages.
- Prepare cases for mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial, including witness preparation, exhibit organization, and trial strategy.
- Represent clients during hearings, mediations, and court proceedings.
- Maintain consistent communication with clients, providing guidance and updates throughout the litigation process.
- Work closely with paralegals, legal assistants, and support staff to ensure cases move efficiently toward resolution.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active license and good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience handling medical malpractice litigation, with plaintiff-side experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex litigation matters.
- Significant deposition experience, including expert witness depositions.
- Trial experience or substantial trial preparation experience.
- Strong knowledge of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, Texas Rules of Evidence, and Texas healthcare liability laws.
- Exceptional legal research, writing, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills.
- Ability to analyze complex medical issues and effectively communicate them to judges, juries, and clients.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience handling catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases.
- Established relationships with medical experts and consultants.
- Board Certification in Personal Injury Trial Law or Civil Trial Law is a plus, but not required.
- Demonstrated history of achieving favorable settlements and verdicts.
