Experienced Bookkeeper – CPA Firm
Location: Houston, TX

Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

About the Opportunity
A well-established Houston CPA firm is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join its team. This is a full-time, on-site position supporting a portfolio of small and mid-sized business clients with their ongoing bookkeeping and accounting needs.
The ideal candidate is an experienced bookkeeping professional who is highly proficient in QuickBooks, strong with account reconciliations, and comfortable managing multiple client accounts. Prior experience working in a CPA firm, public accounting environment, or professional services firm is highly preferred.
A college degree is not required. Relevant hands-on experience, reliability, accuracy, and strong QuickBooks skills are most important.
Key Responsibilities

Manage bookkeeping activities for approximately 15–20 client accounts

Review and maintain client QuickBooks files

Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger account reconciliations

Review account activity and identify discrepancies or necessary adjustments

Assist with month-end bookkeeping and financial statement preparation

Perform limited payroll-related work and prepare payroll reports

Coordinate with third-party payroll providers such as ADP when needed

Communicate directly with select clients regarding bookkeeping questions and required information

Maintain organized and accurate client accounting records

Work closely with CPAs and other members of the firm’s professional team

Assist with additional bookkeeping and accounting projects as needed
Qualifications

Several years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience

Strong proficiency with QuickBooks

Solid account reconciliation experience

Good understanding of general accounting and bookkeeping principles

Ability to independently manage multiple client accounts and deadlines

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Professional written and verbal communication skills

Comfortable communicating directly with clients

Dependable, professional, and able to work effectively in a small-team environment

Prior CPA firm or public accounting experience is highly preferred

Payroll and ADP experience is a plus

College degree is welcome but not required
