CONTROLLER
A growing, national flooring and tile subcontractor serving multifamily projects across the U.S. is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting function and partner directly with the CFO.
This is a highly visible leadership role for someone who knows construction and project accounting and has deep, hands-on experience with Percentage of Completion (PoC) revenue recognition and Work-in-Progress (WIP). These are critical components of the role, and the ideal candidate will be comfortable owning the process and providing insight into project performance and profitability.
What You'll Do

Lead the accounting function, including financial reporting, project accounting, and GAAP compliance

Own PoC revenue recognition, WIP schedules, job costing, and project profitability reporting

Oversee accounting for a large portfolio of active projects across multiple states

Lead and develop the corporate and project accounting teams

Manage commission calculations tied to employment agreements and project profitability

Partner with Procurement, Sales, and Operations on budgeting, billing, contracts, and project financial performance

Strengthen accounting processes, controls, reporting, and overall financial visibility

Work closely with the CFO on financial strategy and key business initiatives
What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

CPA preferred

5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within construction, specialty contracting, or another project-based environment

Strong, hands-on knowledge of Percentage of Completion accounting and WIP

Experience with job costing, project accounting, A/R, A/P, and financial reporting

Proven ability to lead and develop an accounting team

Experience with AIA documents and construction billing processes

Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar ERP preferred

Familiarity with GCPay, Procore, and/or Textura is a plus

Certified payroll experience is a plus

Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to work independently and partner across the organization
