Position: Join our prestigious law firm located in Dallas as a Legal Examiner/DocPrep. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the preparation and examination of residential mortgage documents, with a focus on properties in Texas. Your responsibilities will include:
- Receiving, logging, and assessing requests from mortgage lenders for the preparation and review of loan documents and supporting materials to ensure proper lien protection.
- Evaluating title commitments and surveys, identifying any issues, and communicating findings with lender closers.
- Inputting, drafting, and distributing loan documents and supplemental materials to closing agents or lenders.
- Noting any discrepancies, missing documents, or concerns within loan files and escalating complex matters to attorneys for review.
- Providing prompt responses to follow-up calls and emails related to files.
Requirements:
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years in mortgage processing, loan documentation, or a similar role is necessary. Previous experience in mortgage documentation at a real estate law firm is advantageous.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with legal or loan origination software and document preparation systems is essential.
Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail are crucial for error identification in financial and legal documents.
Organizational Skills: Effective organizational and time-management abilities to handle a high volume of work and meet strict deadlines.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional and client-focused approach.
Compliance Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of mortgage lending regulations and compliance standards is highly desirable.
