Director of Aquarium Design & Operations

Direct Hire; up to 120K (future commissions)

Lead complex public aquarium projects from concept through completion, overseeing life support systems (LSS), aquatic exhibit design, project management, and client relationships

Key Responsibilities

• Lead large-scale aquarium projects, ensuring technical excellence and successful delivery

• Consult with clients to develop practical designs for aquatic exhibits and life support infrastructure

• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and international project partners

• Manage post-project support, client relationships, and business development

• Develop teams and drive operational growth, profitability, and continuous improvement

• Represent the organization at industry events and build strategic partnerships

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, marine science, business, or a related field preferred

• 10+ years of experience in public aquariums, life support systems, aquarium construction, or related industries

• Proven success managing large-scale aquarium infrastructure or LSS projects

• Experience in project management, client consulting, proposals, and business development

• Strong understanding of aquarium operations, aquatic systems, and technical infrastructure

• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills

• Commercial mindset with a hands-on, solutions-oriented approach

• Ability to coordinate projects across multiple locations and time zones

• Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally
