CONTROLLER

A growing, national flooring and tile subcontractor serving multifamily projects across the U.S. is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting function and partner directly with the CFO.

This is a highly visible leadership role for someone who knows construction and project accounting and has deep, hands-on experience with Percentage of Completion (PoC) revenue recognition and Work-in-Progress (WIP). These are critical components of the role, and the ideal candidate will be comfortable owning the process and providing insight into project performance and profitability.

What You'll Do

• Lead the accounting function, including financial reporting, project accounting, and GAAP compliance

• Own PoC revenue recognition, WIP schedules, job costing, and project profitability reporting

• Oversee accounting for a large portfolio of active projects across multiple states

• Lead and develop the corporate and project accounting teams

• Manage commission calculations tied to employment agreements and project profitability

• Partner with Procurement, Sales, and Operations on budgeting, billing, contracts, and project financial performance

• Strengthen accounting processes, controls, reporting, and overall financial visibility

• Work closely with the CFO on financial strategy and key business initiatives

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• CPA preferred

• 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within construction, specialty contracting, or another project-based environment

• Strong, hands-on knowledge of Percentage of Completion accounting and WIP

• Experience with job costing, project accounting, A/R, A/P, and financial reporting

• Proven ability to lead and develop an accounting team

• Experience with AIA documents and construction billing processes

• Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar ERP preferred

• Familiarity with GCPay, Procore, and/or Textura is a plus

• Certified payroll experience is a plus

• Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to work independently and partner across the organization
