Litigation Legal Assistant / Legal Secretary

Join a Fast-Paced Plaintiff Personal Injury Litigation Team

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day support to attorneys, the Senior Legal Assistant, and other team members to effectively meet client and firm objectives.
  • Manage complex calendars, coordinate meetings, schedule appointments, and oversee frequently changing attorney schedules.
  • Arrange and coordinate travel, conferences, depositions, hearings, and other legal events.
  • Prepare, revise, proofread, and format legal documents, correspondence, memoranda, pleadings, and other case-related materials.
  • File documents electronically in state and federal courts and maintain accurate docketing and calendaring of deadlines.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing hearing notebooks, and coordinating logistics.
  • Schedule depositions and manage communications with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and vendors.
  • Process expense reports and assist with administrative and operational tasks as needed.
  • Screen and direct telephone calls, coordinate conference calls, and maintain professional communications.
  • Collaborate with fellow Legal Assistants and support staff to ensure seamless workflow and outstanding client service.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all firm policies, procedures, and professional standards.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, including document formatting and legal document preparation.
  • Typing speed of 55+ words per minute.

Preferred Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of plaintiff personal injury litigation practices and procedures.
  • Experience with state and federal court filing requirements, deadlines, and court procedures.
  • Proficiency in e-filing, docket management, trial preparation, and litigation calendaring.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
