Accounting Manager (CPA)

Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid) | Remote considered

About the Role

We are hiring an Accounting Manager to help scale and strengthen a corporate accounting function during a period of rapid growth and acquisitions. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this role will lead the Corporate GL team and play a key role in improving the month-end close, strengthening internal controls, and addressing complex technical accounting matters.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys solving problems, building processes, and taking ownership—rather than simply escalating issues. The Accounting Manager will work closely with senior finance leadership and have meaningful visibility in a fast-growing, private equity–backed environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Corporate GL accounting team

  • Own and improve the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting

  • Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules

  • Research and apply GAAP guidance, including lease accounting and other complex areas

  • Support annual audits and partner with external auditors as needed

  • Assist with M&A-related accounting, including purchase price accounting and acquisition integrations (preferred)

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, FP&A, and IT on reporting and process improvements

  • Help establish and enhance accounting policies, SOPs, and internal controls

  • Proactively identify issues and recommend practical solutions

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

  • CPA required

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with a mix of public accounting and industry

  • Prior experience leading or mentoring accounting staff

  • Strong technical accounting skills with the ability to research, document, and apply GAAP

  • M&A / purchase price accounting experience strongly preferred

  • Lease accounting experience (ASC 842) preferred

  • Experience in fast-paced, growth-oriented or acquisition-heavy environments a plus

  • Proficient with ERP systems and advanced Excel

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Strong communication skills and a problem-solving mindset

Why This Role

  • Opportunity to build and improve processes in a growing organization

  • High visibility and partnership with senior finance leadership

  • Exposure to acquisitions and complex technical accounting

  • Competitive compensation, bonus potential, and long-term growth opportunity
