Expeditor
Immediate Opportunity – Needed ASAP!
Contract to Hire Position 
Pay rate $21-25 hour depending on experience
IN OFFICE – Zip Code 77081
Schedule:  Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Summary/Objective:
The Expeditor is responsible for monitoring daily routing procedures, assuring on-time delivery of major equipment, critical path items and all other materials consistent with project schedules and preparing returned materials and OS&Ds. (Overages, Shortages & Damages). 
 

Essential Functions:

  • Contact vendors and shippers to check status of orders and ensure that merchandise, supplies, and equipment are forwarded on specified shipping dates
  • Prepare return of steel reels,  record the whole process in and out of the system
  • Prepare all packages/pallets for returns
  • Check in material returned from customer
  • Assist with expediting any materials, using forklift as needed
  • Confer with company personnel, vendors, and customers to coordinate shipping activities and to resolve complaints or eliminate delays
  • Communicate with transportation company to preclude delays in transit, puts tracers on shipment in cases of en route delays, and may arrange for distribution of materials upon arrival
  • Perform other duties as required

  • Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office Software, excellent skills in Excel, and other company specific software applications preferred

  • Basic mathematics skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Time management

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of directly-related training or experience
  • Forklift experience REQUIRED
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • College degree preferred

Work Environment:

This position works in a warehouse setting, with some outdoor exposure during the workday. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, and standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters and tape dispensers.
