Position Overview

The ProFee Surgery Coder supports the RW – Onshore department in various functions, including performing accurate professional fee coding, resolving edits and rejections, and ensuring pro-fee coding compliance. This role is critical in enabling onshore revenue cycle operations to optimize pro-fee billing and revenue capture. This role involves coding, auditing, providing expertise, and identifying process improvements. 
Role Responsibilities

In addition to the responsibilities listed below, the ProFee Surgery Coder may be required to perform other duties as assigned by leadership to support efficient business operations.

The essential functions of this role are listed below:
 

  • Code professional fees for surgical services accurately
  • Review denials and rejections related to surgery coding
  • Query providers on documentation for surgery coding
  • Conduct audits on surgery coding accuracy
  • Provide surgery coding education and training
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required 

Work Experience  

  • 2+ years of experience in professional surgery coding and auditing
  • In-depth knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and reimbursement methodologies
  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems
  • Advanced understanding of surgery coding practices

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role is primarily office-based, with rare but occasional, requirements for meetings or interactions outside of regular office hours. Work may involve prolonged periods of sitting, extensive computer use, and occasional stress associated with meeting deadlines and managing high volumes requests.

 

Additional Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Required: High School Diploma or GED
    • Preferred: Vocational school in healthcare field or Associate’s degree in Healthcare, Business, or related field
  • Certificates or Licenses:
    • Required: AHIMA or AAPC certification
    • Preferred: CPC, CCS-P, CIRCC or other surgery-specific coding certification

RECRUITING NOTES
Estimated daily and weekly coding volumes- 410 claims/day (680 charges average)
• Turnaround time expectations- 48 hours from date of receipt
• Productivity assumptions used for offshore staffing calculations-E&M-80 charts/day, Surgery-50 charts/ day
• Current job description being used for offshore hiring-attached JD for reference
• Required systems, encoder, and EHR experience:  
PM System/EMR – EPIC 
• Anticipated duration before offshore resources are fully ramped and production-ready-  Mid Sept 2026
