Assistant Project Accountant (Construction & Real Estate) – up to 75K 
Location: Charleston, South Carolina — In-Office Position
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary:
The Assistant Project Accountant will work closely with the project accounting team to ensure financial accuracy and timely reporting across multiple projects. This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn the financial side of construction and real estate development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with project setup, including creating new project files and coding structures
  • Support budget preparation, monitoring, and reporting for active construction and development projects
  • Handle accounts payable functions—reviewing invoices, coding costs accurately, and processing payments
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records for all projects
  • Assist with job cost tracking, change order entries, and monthly project reporting
  • Collaborate with project managers and accounting team members to ensure data accuracy and timely updates
  • Support ongoing accounting functions as needed as project continues to expand

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred but not required
  • Construction or real estate industry experience highly valued
  • Strong Excel skills and proficiency with construction/real estate accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Yardi, Viewpoint, Procore, or similar) preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality
  • Dependable, proactive, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced office environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills—a great personality and team mindset are musts!
