Tax Accountant – Houston, TX (Full-Time | Onsite)

About the Company
A national leader in armored transportation, cash logistics, and cash vault operations is seeking an experienced Tax Accountant to support multi-state and multi-country tax compliance. The organization operates nearly 200 branches across the U.S. and is known for strong internal mobility, long-tenured teams, and a culture focused on development and operational excellence.
Position Overview
The Tax Accountant will prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns while ensuring compliance across U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico operations.
Key Responsibilities

Manage sales and use tax compliance and monthly journal entries across all regions.

Review sales and use tax returns prepared through Vertex.

Prepare and analyze financial and tax accounts, records, and reports to determine tax liabilities.

Maintain and update Vertex tax rules; research taxation requirements for new services.

Coordinate property tax compliance with external consultants and provide fixed asset schedules.

Maintain accurate records of all tax filings and supporting documentation.

Ensure timely tax payments, information reporting, and compliance with all taxing authorities.

Reconcile tax accounts, assess use tax, issue resale certificates, and support year-end close.

Prepare annual state income tax apportionment workpapers and PBCs.

Prepare miscellaneous tax returns and assist with business license compliance.

Research and respond to tax notices.

Identify opportunities to enhance tax reporting processes.

Assist with special projects and accounting-related duties as required.
Qualifications
Required:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
-
5+ years of Accounting & Finance experience
-
At least 3 years of multi-state sales/use tax experience
-
Strong knowledge of tax laws and accounting principles
Preferred:
-
Experience with Oracle
-
Experience with Vertex or similar sales/use tax software
