Customer Service Representative – Collections
Location: Houston, TX
Employment Type: [Full-Time / Temp-to-Hire / Contract]
Pay: $17

We are seeking a Customer Service Representative to join our collections team. This role is primarily responsible for collecting outstanding balances on behalf of our clients while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and client-specific guidelines. The ideal candidate is resourceful, professional, and driven to meet performance goals in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle inbound and outbound calls to negotiate payment terms and collect outstanding debts
  • Use account information and probing questions to overcome objections and secure payments or arrangements
  • Monitor debtor accounts and follow up to ensure timely payments
  • Utilize skip tracing techniques and collection strategies to locate right-party contacts
  • Set up payment plans, review account discrepancies, and submit resolution requests as needed
  • Manage debtor disputes professionally and suggest viable solutions for debt repayment
  • Maintain accurate documentation in collection systems and ensure compliance with industry standards

Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous experience in collections, customer service, or sales preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to navigate multiple systems
  • Knowledge of FDCPA, HIPAA, and state/local collection laws preferred
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong listening and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to stay composed under pressure and manage escalated calls professionally
  • Highly dependable, punctual, and able to work independently
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
