Legal Assistant needed for Boutique Insurance defense office. Legal Assistant will support 2-3 attorneys with a variety of tasks, including administrative duties, legal research, document preparation, and client communication, ensuring the smooth operation of the firm. They will likely handle tasks like scheduling, calendaring, filing, and potentially some client interaction. Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Administrative Support: Managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and handling correspondence (phone calls, emails).
- Document Management: Drafting and proofreading legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and contracts.
- File Management: Organizing and maintaining physical and electronic case files.
- Legal Research: Conducting basic legal research using online and offline resources.
- Client Communication: Communicating with clients, witnesses, and other parties to gather information and provide updates.
- Trial Preparation: Assisting with trial preparation by organizing exhibits and coordinating logistics.
- Court Filings: Preparing and submitting documents to courts and other legal authorities.
- Other Duties: Performing tasks as assigned by attorneys, potentially including data entry, billing, and other administrative tasks.
Required Skills:
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain organized files.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with attorneys, clients, and other parties.
- Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with legal software, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and document management systems.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy in drafting legal documents and maintaining files.
- Legal Knowledge: Understanding of legal terminology and basic legal procedures.
Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a legal assistant with defense experience is required
- Experience with state and federal court rules, and knowledge of specific areas of law relevant to the firm's practice, may also be required.
